Tourism Naturally Conference 2020

26. bis 28. Mai 2020 l European Campus Rottal-Inn

The Tourism Naturally Conference 2020 will be take place from 26th to 28th of May at the European Campus Rottal-Inn of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology.

This conference seeks to explore the intersection of tourism, sustainability and health and wellbeing within and around - but not exclusively - protected areas. Specifically, the conference aims to understand the lasting contribution these experiences can have on the visitor and the destination through the transformative potential of the tourist encounter with natural resources. The transformational outcomes for people and places will be explored through a focus on health, wellbeing and sustainability, providing insights into the multitude of contexts, challenges, and opportunities of tourism within and around protected areas.

The scientific conference is aimed at tourism scientists, practitioners and young tourism professionals. On three days, the latest research results and approaches from the tourism industry according to the previously described topics and beyond will be presented to the specialist audience in various parallel presentations.

 

The contributions can adopt, but are not limited to one of the following subjects:

1. Protected Area Tourism (e.g. Nature reserves and national parks, marine protected areas, wildlife dependent tourism)

c. Events and Festivals, Wellbeing and Quality of Life

 

3. Mountain and Coastal Tourism

a. Outdoor Recreation and Adventure Tourism

b. New perspectives for natural tourism

 

4. Climate Change and Sustainability

a. Tourism as a Development Tool (Sustainable development)

b. Social and Environmental Dimensions Tourism (e.g. International issues and cross-cultural research, Heritage Tourism Development, Responsible tourism, Eco-tourism, Volunteer tourism, Pro-poor tourism, sustainable livelihoods)

c. Tourism and Natural Disasters (e.g. Disaster planning and recovery, Dark Tourism)

d. Rural Tourism Development (e.g. Agrotourism, Farm to Table tourism)

 

5. Policy and Governance (Community Based Tourism, public-private partnerships and collaborations, equality, gender and diversity issues)
